Carl Gottlieb Irmscher (1763-1829) gehört zur ersten Generation der Chemnitz Industriepioniere. Er fertigte Handspinnmaschinen für das sich seit den 1760er Jahren rasant entwickelnde Chemnitzer Baumwollgewerbe und war 1798/99 an der technischen Ausstattung der ersten sächsischen Baumwoll-Maschinen-Spinnerei in Harthau beteiligt. Ab 1812 betrieb er eine eigene Baumwoll- Maschinen-Spinnerei in Chemnitz-Furth.
