Willem de Rooij. About
Since 2009 Willem de Rooij has created a series of hand woven textiles: twenty-four individual works to date, which relate to each other in color, scale and material. About is a comprehensive catalogue of these works accompanied by an essay by curator and historian, Vanessa Joan Müller. De Rooij’s weavings have been shown in institutions such as the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in Paris, Kunsthalle Wien, Museum Abteiberg in Mönchengladbach, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Power Station of Art in Shanghai. This catalogue has been published on the occasion of De Rooij’s third solo exhibition at Friedrich Petzel Gallery in New York, in April 2015 and his exhibition at MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt am Main in October 2016 and is produced in collaboration with Galerie Buchholz, Berlin/Cologne.
