Entitled ‹Wissenschaftsgeschichte zum Anfassen‹ (The Living History of Scholarship), this book provides episodes from the »ancient» and the »more recent» history of frommann-holzboog publishing and also deals with current questions pertaining to academic publishing. Furthermore, editors offer very different »views of their workshop» which are always accompanied by knowledgeable explanations: previously unpublished texts are presented, autographs transcibed and translated, or the history of a collected edition is traced in which a hen house plays a crucial role, and at one point the erroneous assignation of authorship is discovered.
