Germany is one of the most important producers of tools and dies worldwide. Due to globalization, new markets arise and therefore new possibilities to increase the revenue. In the last 10 years an increasing number of international tool shops has entered the market which has shaken the supremacy of German tool shops. The German tool and die industry has reacted to this development with measures designed to increase efficiency while also maintaining high quality standards. The study “Tooling in Germany” provides an overview of the German tool and die industry as well as current challenges and trends of the sector of tool making. The study shows the development and status quo of German tool shops with regard to product, process and resources.
