Die HAF-Funktion muss alle potentiellen Situationen bis zu einer Fahrerübernahme beherrschen. Bisher übliche Absicherungsverfahren stoßen dabei an ihre Grenzen. Dies motiviert den Ansatz „passives HAF“ zur statistischen Absicherung des hochautomatisierten Fahrens. Dabei werden reale Fahrszenarien in die Simulation überführt und dort die Sicherheit des HAF bewertet. The evidence that HAD is at least as safe as human driving has still not been produced. The Passive HAD approach proposes a statistical validation of HAD by utilizing a fraction of the billions of kilometers driven every year by common drivers. To guarantee safety, real life scenarios are transferred to simulation where the safety of HAD is evaluated.
