Jede Zeit hat ihre eigene Auffassung und rituelle Gestaltung von Buße, besonders aber von Bußtagen. Die protestantischen Buß- und Bettage haben sich seit der frühen Neuzeit mehrfach gewandelt. Die Untersuchung zeigt erstmals die vielfältigen Erscheinungs- und Feierformen der sächsischen Bußtage aus liturgiehistorischer Perspektive. Auf der Grundlage umfassender Archivstudien analysiert sie die inhaltlich-theologische Umsetzung der liturgischen Programme wie auch die Sichtweisen der Menschen, die Buß- und Bettage anordneten, über sie redeten und an ihnen teilhatten. Die Autorin ordnet die historischen Befunde in übergreifende Zusammenhänge ein und liefert so auch Anknüpfungspunkte für eine Auseinandersetzung mit dem Buß- und Bettag in der Gegenwart. A liturgio-historical study about a holy day in transformation] Each era throughout history has its own concept and ritual form for repentance. This is especially true for official Days of Repentance. The German holy days known as Days of Prayer and Repentance (German: »Buß- und Bettage«) have undergone various transformations on several occasions since early modern times. This liturgio-historical study is the first of its kind to show the Days of Prayer and Repentance from Saxony in their manifold forms of appearance and celebration. On the basis of comprehensive archival studies, it analyses the implementation of the theological content of a variety of liturgical programmes as well as the concerns of the people who organised, commented upon, and participated in the Days of Prayer and Repentance. The author arranges the historical findings in an overarching context and, in this way, also provides starting points for a present day examination of the Day of Prayer and Repentance.
