Christos Karvounis, Dr. phil. habil., hat nach dem Studium der Alt­griechischen Philologie, Alten Geschichte und Byzantinistik/Neu­griechischen Philologie an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München 2001 promoviert und 2014 mit einer Arbeit zur Neogräzistik und historischen Soziolinguistik habilitiert. Seit 2007 forscht und lehrt er am Fachbereich Translations-, Sprach- und Kulturwissenschaft der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz in Germersheim, vorrangig zur historischen Soziolinguistik, intralingualen Übersetzung, griechischen Sprachgeschichte und Bibelübersetzung.
