This volume concludes the annotated presentation of all the illustrated flysheets in the famous collection of the Zurich canon, Jakob Wick. It contains the earlier examples, dating from the period 1500 to 1569. The range of matter dealt with in them is broad, covering many different topics and events from a variety of perspectives. A true appreciation of the complex achievements of these early combinations of pictures and texts, their culture-historical context, the conditions they were produced under and the aims they pursued is something that can only be genuinely provided by cooperation between a variety of disciplines. The commentaries are designed to fulfill precisely this purpose, thus making the flysheets available in all their implications for scholars working in the fields of literary history and art history as well as the many other areas involved in a comprehensive history of culture.
