Das älteste Mitglied der Familie ist urkundlich 1122 in der Luftmühle bei Plauen nach-gewiesen. Aus diesem Stamm gingen die Äste der Müller in Magwitz und Oberkoskau (1529) sowie der Müller in Oelsnitz und Dröda (1570) mit dem Zweig der Bäcker in Oelsnitz an der Weißen Elster (1708) hervor. Dieser Zweig ist hinreichend in den Zunftbüchern der Bäcker von Oelsnitz dokumentiert.
