Der Stifter und Mäzen Reinhard Ernst plante ein Zuhause für seine einzigartige Sammlung; die Stadt Wiesbaden stellte ein Grundstück im Herzen der Stadt zur Verfügung und der japanische Stararchitekt Fumihiko Maki lieferte die Pläne. Entstanden ist das Museum Reinhard Ernst für abstrakte Kunst, eine architektonische Preziose, aber auch ein bürgeroffenes Haus sowie Anziehungspunkt für das internationale Kunstpublikum gleichermaßen.
