Ilana Shmueli, 1924 in Czernowitz geboren, seit 1944 in Israel, arbeitete über lange Jahre als Sozialpädagogin in Tel Aviv. Heute lebt sie in Jerusalem. Im Suhrkamp Verlag liegt ihr Briefwechsel mit Paul Celan vor, im Rimbaud Verlag sind ihre Gedichte 'Zwischen dem Jetzt und dem Jetzt' und ihre Erinnerungen 'Ein Kind aus guter Familie' erschienen.Zuletzt erhielt sie 2009 den Theodor-Kramer-Preis für Schreiben im Widerstand und im Exil.
