Especially nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond show high potential towards the realization of diamond-based quantum technologies. This dissertation discloses the demands on the material specifications of the desired diamond centerpiece and elaborates on its synthesis. Therefore, the entire development chain is considered for optimization. A solid approach towards quantum-grade diamond for cavity-based solutions is presented and a deeper understanding on the essential factors is provided.
