Welche Rolle spielt der Geschichtsunterricht in Demokratisierungsprozessen? Der Band untersucht am Beispiel Tschechiens, wie historische Bildung während der postdiktatorischen Transformation zur Projektionsfläche gesellschaftlicher Aushandlungen wurde. Zu diesem Zweck wird die Wandlung von Geschichtsbildern und didaktischen Konzepten in tschechischen Schulbüchern und didaktisierten Filmen nach 1989 untersucht. Nicht zuletzt geht es dabei um die Frage, was die Veränderungen dieser Bildungsmedien für das kollektive Gedächtnis und die Identität der Menschen in Tschechien bedeuten. What is the role of history education in democratization processes? Using the example of the Czech Republic, this volume examines how historical education became a projection screen for social negotiations during the post-dictatorial transformation. To this end, it examines the changes of historical images and didactic concepts in Czech textbooks and didacticized films after 1989. This raises the question what the evolution of these educational media means for the collective memory and identity of the people in the Czech Republic.
