Das Verbindungselement besteht aus einer Kopfplatte mit drei oder mehr Verbindungsfüßen. Diese Dorne durchdringen zunächst den lokal aufgeschmolzenen Faserverbundwerkstoff. Anschließend werden deren Spitzen mittels konventioneller Widerstandspunktschweißtechnik an ein Stahlblech angeschweißt, wobei der Strom über die Kopfplatte in die Verbindungsfüße eingeleitet wird.
