This volume of the journal contains six papers and five reviews. The contributions deal with murder of kings and successors in the Achaemenid Empire [Thomas], lead seals, lead trade, and lead production in Germania libera [Kritzinger], the lease of commercial premises in Roman Egypt and the connected system of principals and agents [Dross-Krüpe], early Roman land development in Germania [Altmeppen], microeconomic considerations on Athenian sea trade in the 4th century B.C. on the basis of the speech Against Lakritos [Warnking], and a third contribution on descriptions of material value in papyrological sources [Reinard]. The book reviews relate to a volume of Italian conference proceedings on the history of dogma and the historical individuality of Roman lawyers, to a Latin-German edition of Marcus Cetius Faventinus’ text on Roman private architecture, to models, methods, and case studies on structure and performance in Roman economy, to notions of public and private in the Roman house and Roman society as well as to the seizure, consolidation, and detailed design of the principate under the rules of Vespasian, Titus, and Domitian.
