Die sogenannte 'Wärme-Meditation' erhielt die Medizinstudentin Helene von Grunelius im Frühjahr 1923 von Rudolf Steiner für sich und ihren Freundeskreis, der medizinische Grundlagenstudien betrieb. Die 'Wärme-Meditation' wurde zum zentralen esoterischen Gut der Freundesgruppe – Madeleine van Deventer zufolge bezeichnete Steiner sie 'als den Weg des Mediziners zum Schauen des ätherischen Christus'. Das Buch beschreibt den geschichtlichen Kontext der Meditation und einige ihre geistigen Implikationen.
