Mit ihrer weitgehend abgeschlossenen Digitalisierung sind die Medien Film und Video fast gänzlich im Medium „Computer“ aufgegangen. Und auch unser Rezeptionsverhalten hat sich nachhaltig geändert: Wurden filmische Werke bislang hauptsächlich in Kino und Fernsehen gesehen, gewinnen jetzt die DVD und das Internet zunehmend an Bedeutung – Aspekte einer umfassenden Remediatisierung im Bereich der Audiovisionen. Filme und Videos werden tendenziell als simulierte Anwendungen auf dem Computer rezipiert. Aber die Ränder sind nach vielen Seiten offen: mit den Machinimas werden in Game-Umgebungen Filme gedreht, merkwürdige Mischformen aus Computerspiel, Film und Theater. Es wird über Zugänge zu Archiven nachgedacht, die sich filmischer Grammatiken bedienen. „Öffentlichkeit“ ist ein Faktor, über den ganz anders nachgedacht werden muss als bisher.With digitization largely completed, the media of film and video have now been almost entirely absorbed by the medium of “computer.”And our reception behavior has also been permanently altered.
