Der fotografische Essay „Besa Besarta“ kreist um die Hochzeit der beiden Zwillingsschwestern Besa und Besarta. Sie leben in Hamburg und haben 2011, beide am selben Tag, im Kosovo geheiratet. Simone Haug begleitete die beiden Schwestern im Jahr ihrer Hochzeit bei den Vorbereitungen in Hamburg und im Kosovo, am dreitägigen Hochzeitsfest in Ferizaj und schliesslich in der Zeit danach, zurück im Hamburger Alltag. Besa ist die Abkürzung des Namens Besarta. Besarta heisst » goldenes Ehrenwort «.
