Der Band stellt ein Ergebnis des BMBF-Verbundprojektes “KunstModell: Für eine gemeinsame Systembeschreibung von Modellen und Kunstwerken aus den alten Kulturen Nordafrikas” [2018-2021] dar. Er enthält eine Einführung, die Präsentation von 9 Modellkategorien für die dynamische Klassifikation altägyptischer Objekte als Modelle, Vorbemerkungen zum Katalog, den Katalog mit 143 Einträgen, 5 Modelle unter Fälschungsverdacht sowie Steckbriefe zu den ägyptischen Sammlungen der genannten Museen. Im Rahmen des Projektes wurde ein neuer Ansatz entwickelt, um über altägyptische Modelle urteilen und sie in einer Datenbank zugänglich machen zu können, zu der auf Anfrage Zugang gewährt wird. Die zugehörigen Modellkategorien gehen auf Bernhard Thalheim zurück und sind Repräsentations-, Fertigungs-, Erläuterungs-, Anleitungs-, Didaktik-, Dokumentations-, Orientierungs-, Imaginations- und Ritualmodelle. Das Buch schließt mit 7 Anhängen, die eine topographische Übersicht zu Ägypten, eine Chronologie des Alten Ägypten, Abkürzungen, Literaturangaben, Konkordanzen, weitere genannte Museumsobjekte bzw. Sammlungsobjekte sowie Abbildungsnachweise enthalten. This volume presents the results of the BMBF joint project “KunstModell: Towards a common system description of models and artworks of the ancient cultures in Northern Africa” [2018-2021]. It contains an introduction, a presentation of nine model categories for the dynamic classification of ancient Egyptian objects as models, preliminary remarks on the catalogue, the catalogue with 143 entries, five models suspected of being forgeries, and profiles of the Egyptian collections of the museums mentioned. As part of the project, a new approach was developed to evaluate ancient Egyptian models and make them accessible in a database, which can be accessed upon request. The associated model categories were developed by Bernhard Thalheim and include representation, production, explanatory, instructional, didactic, documentary, orientation, imaginative, and ritual models. The book concludes with seven appendices containing a topographical overview of Egypt, a chronology of ancient Egypt, abbreviations, bibliographical references, concordances, additional museum and collection objects mentioned and picture credits.
