In Metaphysics of Morals (1797), Kant develops his moral philosophy into a system, at the center of which is the opposition between duties of right and duties of virtue. But Kant also divides the legislation of purely practical reason into juridical and ethical legislation. This study inquires into how these central differentiations should be understood, how Kant substantiates them, and how they interconnect.
