Critically refined concepts and theories help us improve the linguistic expressions we use to manifest world structure, to which we have epistemic access when we know something. In philosophy what really matters is to find out how our concepts, theories, and in general our natural languages make possible that we actually know what there really is. Our sentences and thoughts carve at "reality´s joints". They manifest, most of the time, world structure, that is, what the world is made of: related and arranged things that happen.
