Der politische Umbruch in Mittel- und Osteuropa vor mehr als 30 Jahren leitete einen Epochenwechsel ein, der als postsozialistische beziehungsweise postkommunistische Transformation bezeichnet wird. Dabei handelt es sich um soziale, politische und wirtschaftliche Veränderungen substantieller Art. Der vorliegende Band konzentriert sich auf zwei Fallbeispiele dieses Systemwandels, nämlich Polen und Ostdeutschland. Dabei stehen historische Voraussetzungen, Verläufe und Ergebnisse des Transformationsprozesses in einzelnen Teilordnungen wie Außenhandel, Unternehmertum oder Wissenschaftssystemen im Mittelpunkt. Die 15 Einzelstudien des Bandes sollen in ihrer Gesamtheit zum Vergleich der Transformation in beiden Räumen beitragen. The political upheaval in Central and Eastern Europe more than 30 years ago led to an epochal shift that has come to be called the post-socialist or post-communist transformation. It involved very substantial social, political and economic changes. This volume focuses on two examples of that systemic transformation, namely the cases of Poland and the former East Germany. The emphasis is on the historical preconditions, the course and the results of the transformation process in particular fields, including foreign trade, entrepreneurship, and scientific systems. Taken as a whole, the fifteen individual studies contained in the volume will contribute to the comparative study of the transformation in these two countries. Przełom polityczny w Europie Środkowej i Wschodniej sprzed ponad 30 lat przyniósł ze sobą epokową zmianę, określaną mianem transformacji postsocjalistycznej bądź postkomunistycznej. Polegała ona na przeobrażeniach społecznych, politycznych i gospodarczych zasadniczej natury. Niniejszy tom skupia się na dwóch przykładach ilustrujących tę przemianę ustrojową, mianowicie na Polsce i dawnych Niemczech Wschodnich. W centrum uwagi znalazły się warunki historyczne, przebieg i rezultaty procesu transformacji w poszczególnych obszarach, takich jak handel zagraniczny, przedsiębiorczość lub systemy nauki. Zbiór 15 odrębnych analiz, zawartych w niniejszym tomie, ma być przyczynkiem do porównania transformacji w obu krajach.
