Die 4,3 m hohe Benediktsäule, aus heller Bronze gegossen, wurde auf Wunsch des Hl. Vaters vor seiner ehemaligen Titularkirche, der Basilica di San Clemente, in Velletri am 23. September 2007 aufgestellt. Anlässlich seines Pastoralbesuches in Velletri wurde das Kunstwerk dem Hl. Vater im Namen des Bayerischen Städtetags feierlich übergeben. In großformatigen Bildern und Texten von Ulrich Hommes zeigt das Buch zur Säule das Kunstwerk in seinen eindrucksvollen Details.
