Hymnen waren ein wesentlicher Aspekt der hagiographischen Literatur und des Heiligenkultes in Byzanz. In der spätbyzantinischen Zeit existierten bereits Hymnen auf die wichtigsten Heiligenfeste jedes Tages des Jahreszyklus, die in den Menaia überliefert wurden. Nicht desto weniger wurden weiter Hymnen verfasst, sei es auf neue, sei es auf alte Heilige. Die Hymnographie war ein Teil der literarischen Produktion der spätbyzantinischen Zeit, wurde jedoch bis jetzt wenig beachtet. In der vorliegenden Publikation werden jene liturgischen Kanones untersucht und aus dem Codex Chalk. S. Trin. 64 ediert, die Theoktistos Studites auf seinen älteren Zeitgenossen, den berühmt - berüchtigten Patriarchen Athanasios I. von Konstantinopel (1289-1293 und 1303-1309), verfasste. … Hymns represent an important aspect of the hagiographic literature and of the cult of saints in Byzantium. In the Late Byzantine era there already existed hymns on the most important saints' feasts, preserved in the Menaia, for every day of the liturgical year. Nonetheless, new hymns were still composed on both new and old saints. Hymnography was part of the literary production of the Late Byzantine era; however, hardly any notice has been taken of it so far. The present study provides an analysis and a critical edition of the eleven liturgical canons (Codex Chalk. S. Trin. 64) of Theoktistos Studites on his elder contemporary, the famous and notorious Patriarch Athanasios Ist of Constantinople (1289-1293 and 1303-1309).
