The fundamental artistic tenets of postmodernism have been with us since the 1980s. These ideals are no longer intellectual propositions so much as they are an integral part of our present day concert art found in the underground, pop culture and the academy. This Manifesto is an invitation to seek a more malleable and expressive interpretive art. Understanding that one can no longer help but engage with these principles, the author opens fresh perspectives that point to a dynamic and ongoing conversation in today’s concert hall.
