Music therapy interventions and treatment approaches are significant in subject-specific understanding of bio-psycho-social psychosomatic medicine in that they link physical illness, mental condition, emotional experience, and relationship exchanges and encounters of patients with musical therapeutic action. Playing together contributes to the understanding of many existential crises that manifest themselves with the disease. Music becomes the diagnostic tool, the relationship medium, a symbol, and in turn allows for new experience with one's own body. Key structure-related aspects of music therapy in psychosomatic medicine are highlighted in the contributions from different theoretical-practical approaches and show what high therapeutic potential music therapy methods have for psychosomatic medicine.
