Oskar ist schon ein besonders dummer und gedankenloser Bauer. Er zwingt die Tiere auf seinem Hof Arbeiten zu verrichten, die sie beim besten Willen nicht ausführen können. So muss der Esel Mäuse fangen und der Hund soll Eier legen. Als eines Tages ein halb verhungerter, herrenloser Kater auf den Hof kommt, will Oskar ihn unbedingt zum Aufseher machen. So etwas kann natürlich nicht gut gehen.
