Die vorliegende Edition gibt einen umfassenden Einblick in drei der wichtigsten Bruderschaften der Kaufleuteeliten Lübecks sowie in ein kleinbürgerliches Pendant. Sie zeigt zum einen durch einen nahezu vollständigen Katalog der Bruderschaftsmitglieder die Vernetzung der Kaufleute und Bürger in der Stadt auf, zeugt zum anderen aber auch von der allumfassenden Vorsorge für das eigene Seelenheil einer Stadtgesellschaft im Mittelalter. Durch diese Listen ist es möglich, die Entwicklung städtischer Bruderschaften von ihrer Gründung bis zur Reformation umfassend zu verfolgen. This edition offers the opportunity to get an inside view in three of the most important confraternities of the Lübeck merchant-elite in the Late Middle Ages. As well as a rare glimpse of the activities of an urban petty bourgeois brotherhood. The nearly complete list of all members of the brotherhoods shows on the one hand the network and networking of the urban elites. On the other hand the edition indicate the all embracing precautions of all burghers for the Kingdom come and the time in purgatory. The membership-lists of these confraternities allow a complete view on the development of these institutions, from their foundation up to the reformation.
