Der erste Aufsatz des Bandes trägt den provozierenden Titel „Die Griechen waren keine Europäer“. 30 Artikel Gotthard Strohmaiers, die bisher über Zeitschriften und Festschriften verschiedener Disziplinen verstreut waren, verfolgen die vielfältige Rezeption der griechischen Kultur durch die Araber und, im Falle der astrologischen Bilderwelt, weiter ins Abendland. Sie demonstrieren die intellektuelle Mobilität innerhalb des klassischen Islam. - The Europeans are not the only heirs of the so-called “Greek miracle”. The first essay in this volume bears the intruiguing title “The Greeks wereno Europeans”. Thirty articles of Gotthard Strohmaier, hitherto scattered over journals and Festschriften in various disciplines, are tracing the manifold aspects of the migration from Greek into Arabic and, in the case of astrological iconography, further into the Occident. They also give evidence of the intellectual mobility within the framework of classical Islam.
