A major focus of this new edition is on the new custody provisions for non-married parents (§ 1626a in conjunction with related provisions of the Act on Procedure in Family Matters, or FamFG). An additional focus is the new and highly controversial provision in § 1631d that grants parents the right to authorize non-medically necessary circumcision of their male children who are not yet at the age of consent.
